In April 1998, at the Audi production plant in Hungary, the production of the TT model in its coupe version took off , and in the TT Roadster version – at the beginning of 1999. The design of this vehicle derives from the previous Audi A3 model. Today, the basic engine of the Coupe and Roadster version is a 1.8-liter T 150 hp plant driving the front wheels of the vehicle. Permanent all-wheel drive, the Quattro, is available upon request with a 1.8-liter T 180 hp unit and, as standard, with a 225 hp version. Since the beginning of 2003, leading versions of the Coupe and Roadster were provided with a powerful 3.2-liter 250 hp VR6 engine which, upon request, may come with a modern, automatic DSG gearbox. At the beginning of 2005 in Geneva, a Coupe version equipped with a 1.8-liter 240 hp T engine called the TT Quattro Sport was presented.
