Harking back to the tradition of the luxurious 6 series coupes produced in the years 1976–89, BMW presented again a coupe model in Frankfurt/ Main in 2003, followed by the Cabriolet version of 2004. The new 6 series BMW presents the latest styling and technical solutions utilized in the presently offered limousines of the 5 and 7 series. At first, this exclusive, 4-seat coupe was equipped with a 4.4-liter 333 hp V8 petrol engine, and at the end of 2004 – with a new 6-cylinder 3.0-liter 258 hp power plant. Both units are connected with a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The vehicle’s special feature are the materials used to produce elements of the body, beside steel sheet metal panels, there are aluminum sheets and two types of high quality composites.
