At its first presentation at the beginning of 1997, the Ka model was described as a car with an avant-garde body. Its popularity, particularly with women, led to the expansion of the range of versions offered with the sports SportKa and the StreetKa cabrio, presented in Paris in 2002. The basic version of the Ka is driven by a 1.3-liter 60 or 70 hp engine, and its body is modern enough not to require styling changes for the time being. The sports SportKa has a slightly different body design and comes with a 1.6-liter 95 hp plant, the same as the open, 2-seat StreetKa version, whose body was developed by the Italian styling company of Pininfarina, and which since the end of 2002 has been produced by that company.
