The Focus of the first generation was presented in Geneva in 1998 and instantly became a Ford hit. The second generation Focus had its premiere in Paris in 2004. The new vehicle utilizes the floor panel previously used in the C-Max model, and was initially offered as a 3- or a 5-door hatchback and in an estate body version. Similarly to the previous model of 1998, the new Focus features an abundant range of power plants. These include 1.4-liter 80 hp, 1.6-liter 100 or 115 hp and 2.0-liter 145 hp petrol engines, as well as 1.6-liter 90 or 109 hp and 2.0-liter 136 hp TDCi diesel plants. At the beginning of 2005, a new sedan version was presented, as well as the sports ST version with a new, 5-cylinder 2.5-liter 220 hp unit, which will go on sale by the end of the year. The new Focus is at present one of the most modern compact cars on the European market.
