The Galaxy minivan, alongside the VW Sharan and Seat Alhambra models, has been produced in Portugal since 1995. After the latest modernization of 2000, the model is offered without significant alterations. The Galaxy can accommodate five or eight people in three rows of seats. Unlike the twin models, the Ford only offers versions with a front-axle drive. The Galaxy is driven by 2.0-liter 115 hp or 2.3- liter 145 hp petrol engines which are of Ford design, or a 2.8-liter 204 hp VR6 engine and a 1.9-liter TDI unit of 90, 115 or 130 hp, made by Volkswagen. Since the beginning of 2005, a 1.9-liter TDI 150 hp power plant has also been offered.
