A new model, called the Viano, was presented at the 2003 Hannover Motor Show as a successor to the V-Class minivan produced since 1995. It is offered in versions with a shorter and longer wheelbase, and three body versions: a „kompakt”, a „lang”, and an „extralang”. Six to nine passengers can be transported in individual seats. The vehicle is driven by a diesel engine of 2.2-liter capacity and 109 or 150 hp that comes with a6-speed manual, or a5-speed automatic transmission, or a V6 petrol engine of 3.2-liter capacity developing 190 or 218 hp, featuring an automatic gearbox only. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels. Similarly to the preceding model, the Viano is produced at the Spanish plants of the company.
