Significant market successes were earned by Opel with its minivan-type vehicles. Following the popular Zafira and Agila models, in Paris 2002 Opel presented the Meriva. It is a vehicle of a thoroughly new design, utilizing only few of the Corsa subsystems. The model, whose length slightly, exceeds 4 meters has been provided with a sophisticated system of variant rear seat configurations, whose central part can be folded, and the side seats adjusted within the vehicle. This way, a 5-seat car can turn into a comfortable 4-seat vehicle with space for quite a lot of luggage. The car comes with a 1.4-liter 90 hp engine, a 1.6-liter plant of 100 hp, a 1.8-liter 125 hp unit, and a 1.7-liter CDTi developing 75 or 100 hp.
