Since 1991, the popular Kadett has been replaced by a model called the Astra. Its first generation was produced in Germany until 1998, and in Poland until June 2002. The Astra of the second generation came out in 1998, and has been produced at the Polish Opel plants in Gliwice since October 2003. The model comes in the following versions: a5-door hatchback, asedan, and a station wagon, equipped with a 1.4-liter 90 hp or a 1.6-liter 100 hp engine. The vehicles are still offered on the markets of selected European countries.
