A prototype of the super-sports, 2-seat Porsche vehicle by the Carrera GT name was presented in 2000, but the premiere of the series model took place in Geneva in 2003. According to official statements, production of the Carrera GT is limited to 1,500 vehicles. The body of this vehicle is made of carbon fibre and composite materials. The centrally placed 5.7-liter V10 engine develops 612 hp. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels. The model was used by Porsche to present its technological capabilities, as proven by the application of over seventy technical solutions secured by the patents of the company.
