In the fall of 2002 in Paris, Porsche presented the first cross-country and recreational vehicle in its history, called the Cayenne. It was developed in cooperation with Volkswagen and, in somewhat changed versions, is released under both brands. Initially, the Cayenne S with a 4.5-liter 340 hp V8 engine and the Cayenne Turbo whose engine, thanks to two turbochargers, develops 450 hp were, presented. In the ba-sic version, presented in Frankfurt/Main in 2003, a 3.2-liter 250 hp V6 unit is mounted. In all versions, this luxuriously equipped vehicle, features a reduction gearbox and a highly complicated system of electronic control of torque distribution between individual axles. The Turbo version is fitted with pneumatic wheel suspension and automatic or manual change of the body clearance. Despite a significantly high price, all the Cayenne versions are very popular.
