Presented in Frankfurt/Main in 1999, the A2 model was described as an avant-garde vehicle with futuristic design features. An original feature of the vehicle is a body with a very unusual line, made of aluminum sheets according to the Space Frame technology. The model was launched in the middle of 2000 and in 2003 underwent slight modernization. At present, the car comes with a 1.4-liter engine of 75 hp, a 1.6-liter 110 hp FSI engine with direct fuel injection, and with the following TDI engines: a 1.2-liter 61 hp unit from the VW Lupo 3L model, and a 1.4-liter plant of 75 or 90 hp. Although the Audi A2 remains one of the most modern vehicles with small dimensions, it does not find many buyers due to its high price.
